Marathon Training Week 6
I cannot believe we are already into February.
I also cannot believe I have 3 races left until my first full marathon in May. That makes me nervous. That’s why I don’t think about it too much. Or at all.
We are headed into race week here for half number two of 2014. Did you see who I am honoring this race?
How was everyone’s Super Bowl Sunday?
I am beyond thrilled the Broncos lost. I am a die hard Packer fan, but sometimes I think I love watching the Broncos lose even more.
At least now I don’t have to worry about seeing orange in my Facebook news feed anymore.
Bring on baseball!
Last weeks training was brutal. By the middle of the week I was stiff. I had no motivation to run on Thursday. I went to the gym that day. Hopped on the treadmill and lasted all of 10 secs before I chose to just focus on strength that day. It was exactly what I needed. Even though 2 rest days back to back weren’t exactly ideal, its probably what my body needed; and I still managed to hit 40 miles for the week. I have never ran that many in a week.
Saturdays long run was done on the treadmill at the gym. It was long and brutal, but the mental battle was won. I managed to hit just over 12 miles in 1:36. That means I am oh so close to getting that sub 1:45. I’m ready for it too. I have been working hard.
Temps this week are less than favorable for getting outside. We are looking at single digits or below 0 with snow. And it’s currently snowing. As long as Mother Nature gets her business over with now and not Saturday. I don’t mind running in the snow…its the traveling that I’m not too thrilled about.
Headed into week 6.
With it being race week not much should be any different, except Friday’s workout.
Monday: 50 minute tempo. Core
Tuesday: Easy 2 miles. Core. Strength.
Wednesday: Easy 5 miles. Core.
Thursday: Strength. Negative split 7.5 miles. Core.
Friday: Easy 3-4 miles. Core.
Saturday: Rest and Travel
Sunday: Ralston Valley Half Marathon
Hope you all have a fabulous week. If any of you are near the race on Sunday, I would love to see you out at the course. There’s even a 5k, so if you don’t feel up for the half you can join in on the fun for the 5k. My mom is running the 5k, remember Mom?
Have a great week!
